Surfing hacks: The top 7 every surfer needs to know

Here are 7 surf hacks to make your surfing life that little bit easier.

#1 Double your leg rope string

This way, the string won’t dig into the tail and cause damage. Plus, doubling it makes it stronger and less likely to break.

#2  Travel with ding repair

I always like to travel with some ding putty. This way if I get a small ding I can fix it on the spot and don’t have to miss days of surfing whilst it’s at the ding repairer.

#3  Put your sunscreen on before your wetsuit

There’s nothing worse than a slippery board. That’s why I always apply sunscreen first, before putting on my wetsuit, so most of it is rubbed off my hands by the time I touch my board.

#4  Keep a flex tub in your car

There’s nothing worse than your car always smelling like a wet wetsuit (especially if you're someone who pees in it 😬). Give your wetsuit a proper home, plus, you can double it up as a washing bucket too

#5 Wax the top of your feet

Sounds weird, I know, but it is a great hack for extra grip. What you do is when you get out the back you rub the top of your feet with the bottom of your feet to give you that extra bit of traction.

#6 Keep a packet of antihistamines in the car

Getting stung by a jellyfish really sucks, and it's happened to me enough times to know how quickly it can ruin a good session. That's why I always keep a packet of antihistamines in my car. They help reduce the inflammation and itching, so I can get some relief and hopefully get back in the water.

#7 Pack duct tape for emergency repairs

You might not always have the time to let your board dry out, apply solar rez and wait for it to cure before paddling back out. I therefore like to keep some duct tape in the car for a quick repair job that can keep you going for the rest of the session.

There you have it, my top 7 surf hacks. Test them out and let me know which ones work best for you!
